

Animal Awareness Week - 22-28 June 2009
The Animal Welfare Branch held the very first Animal Awareness Week from 22-28 June 2009.
Exciting and informative events took place that helped increase community awareness in the care and protection of our animals. The theme for Animal Awareness Week was “Protecting and caring for our animals” and there were free events such as reptile displays at Casuarina and Palmerston Shopping Centres and Animal Welfare Inspector/Officer training for all registered Inspectors/Officers.
The RSPCA held Open Days in Alice Springs on Saturday 27 June 2009 and ind Darwin Sunday 28 June 2009, both with activities and events for the whole family.
The Animal Welfare Branch conducted a Pamper Your Pet Competition, with the prize being a pamper pack worth $150! A Colouring-In competition was also conducted, giving entrants a chance to win a portable DVD player and colouring-in prize pack worth $150. Five lucky runner ups also received a colouring-in prize pack!
