Animal Welfare Fund grant program



The Northern Territory Government is pleased to invite submissions for the 2009-2010 Animal Welfare Fund grant program.

The Animal Welfare Fund aims to support Northern Territory, not for profit, animal welfare organisations undertake finite projects that have the potential to:

  • improve animal well being;
  • raise community awareness of responsibilities in regard to animal welfare; and
  • assist in progressing good animal management practice, particularly in remote communities.

Assessment Criteria

Each submission will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • the quantum of funds available within the Program;
  • demonstrated need and support for the project;
  • focus on achieving clear and effective outcomes in the most efficient way;
  • level of earned income and the level of support (including in kind) from the organisation and other sources;
  • demonstrated capacity of the organisation to deliver the project successfully, including previous financial and non financial performance and past governance performance; and
  • priority rating for funding compared with other suitable applications.

Description of Grants

  • The maximum grant available for each project is $75,000 per annum.
  • The quantum of funding for individual projects will be governed by budget availability and the standard of submissions.
  • Consideration will be given to funding arrangements for up to two years with no extensions available.
  • Organisations will be expected to either secure funding from other sources beyond the time of the grant or ensure a suitable plan is devised to wind down activity with minimal disruption.

Submission close Monday 2 November. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.
